Game 2. Kent 9 Sno-Valley 3
Kent scored their first run of the game when lead-off batter Cameron Bogle scored on a ground ball to the right side by Jesse Keliiliki. They scored again in the third inning on an RBI single by Kevin Clutter to drive in Tyler Hutto from second base. Clutter would then shut down opposing batters in the first 2 innings by retiring all 6 batters. But the visiting Titans from Sno-Valley North came back to tie the game in the bottom of the third with hits from Matt Ortega, Jacob Gilles, and Nick Prather. D.J. Vallala then led off the fourth inning for Kent with a deep fly ball to the fence in center field for a double. This ignited the Kent offense for three more hits: Singles from Brian Mazzitelli and Keliiliki and another double from Bogle. This resulted in two runs to put Kent ahead by two once again. Mac Cahoon came in to pitch for Kent in the fourth inning. After giving up a walk to the lead-off batter who would eventually score, Cahoon pitch lights out for the rest of his three innings of work giving up no more runs and striking out three. He got a little defensive help from Mazitelli at second base for the first out in the fifth when Brian ranged to his left on the edge of the outfield grass to scoop up a ground ball and fire to first base for the putout. Kent had two outs with nobody on base in the sixth inning when they went on a two-out rally like no other. Keliiliki got on with a walk, stole second and then was hit in by Clutter who would advance to third on a single by Michael Parrot. Both Clutter and Parrot would score on miscues by the Titan's defense. Kent then scored three runs off four hits in the top of the seventh: Singles from Bogle, Clutter, and Parrot, and a triple by Keliiliki. Cameron Bogle came in to finish the game in the bottom of the seventh by allowing no runs and striking out two batters. He got defensive help from an outstanding play by third baseman D.J. Vallala who got a great jump on a foul ball that looked like it might be out of play, but D.J. managed to haul it in after sliding to stop just short of the fence along the third base side. Kent now faces Hazel Dell from District 6 on Wednesday evening (7/22) at 6:30 at Bothell High School.

State Game 4, July 24, 2009 Kent 11 N. East / RUG 1
For Kent's fourth game of the tournament, they faced the host team from District 8 which is a combined team from Northeast Seattle and Roosevelt/University/Greenlake or N. East / RUG as they known on the bracket. The first two innings of this game started out for Kent the way the first two innings of all three other State tournament games have for Kent: Scoreless. But Kent's Defense has always kept them in every game. This game would be no exception. Kevin Clutter started the game on the hill for Kent and kept District 8 hitters at bay for three scoreless innings. He got help from short stop Cameron Bogle in the second when Cameron made a spectacular play ranging way to his right, making the backhanded grab and making a solid long throw to first base for the out. Two batters later, Austin Benson fielded a single in left field and threw a strike to catcher Kyle Mollenberg at home who would tag the potential go-ahead run. Bogle would start off a very long offensive half of the third inning for Kent with a single. His hit was followed by singles from Jesse Keliiliki, Kevin Clutter and Kyle Mollenberg sprinkled in between several walks and a couple of errors for a total of eight runs before the third inning was done. District 8 would get on the board in the fourth inning with back-to-back singles from Colin Bridges and Eric Luth. After that, Michael Parrot came into the game and struck out the next three batters in a row. In Kent's half of the fourth, Kevin Clutter would lead off with a single and then score on a single from Michael Parrot. Parrot would stymie District 8 hitters once again in the 5 th giving up just one hit and no runs. In the bottom of the fifth Benson reached first on a single, Keliiliki walked and Clutter hit another RBI single to score Benson. Keliiliki would score the winning run on an RBI bunt from Dalton Cryderman to end the game with the score 11 - 1. Kent has made to the final four teams in the tournament. They will now face East Jefferson on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 2:00 at Bothell High School.
Game 5. July 25, 2009 Kent 5 East Jefferson 1 Now down to the final four teams in the tournament, Kent faced off with East Jefferson this afternoon in Bothell. East Jefferson got on the board early when their leadoff hitter, Lucas Dukek hit a double and then scored on a ground ball to third. Kent would answer in the third when, with two outs, Mac Cahoon hit a single, Brennan Allen was hit by a pitch, and then D.J. Vallala drove in Cahoon on a single. In the bottom of the third, East Jefferson had runners on first and second with just one out. Devin Manix then hit a high pop-up in foul territory to the right and way behind first base. First Baseman, Kevin Clutter, ran and just barely reach and catch the ball up against the fence, and then fired a bullet across the diamond to third base to get the runner tagging up from second base for the third out. Kent was unable to score in the fourth. But then in the bottom of the fourth with a runner on second with no outs, Short Stop Cameron Bogle took a ground ball and fired to first for one out, and then Clutter threw across the diamond to Vallala at third to get East Jefferson's runner who had rounded third and was trying to get back to the bag. This proved to be a crucial out as the next batter would single to right. Cahoon would get the final out of the inning by throwing three straight strikes. In the fifth inning, again with two out, Jesse Keliiliki hit a triple to deep right center field to score Austin Benson. Keliiliki was then hit in by Clutter on the next at bat to make the score 3 – 1. Unable to score in the sixth, Kent's defense came through again in the bottom of the inning when, with a runner on second and one out, second baseman, Michael Parrot snagged a line drive and quickly fired to second for the final out of the inning. Kent would tack on two more in the seventh. Austin Benson hit an RBI double to drive in Bogle who reached on an error. Clutter then singled up the middle to drive in Benson to put Kent up 5 – 1. Bogle then came in to pitch in the bottom of the seventh. Then with two outs, short stop Brian Mazzitelli ranged way to his left to somehow get to a ball that looked like it was going to be a base hit up the middle, and then fired to first for the final out. Kent now plays Evergreen from District 4 on Sunday, July 26 th at 2:00 at Bothell High School.
Game 6. Kent lost a heartbreaker to Evergreen 9-7 today and finish the State Tournament a very creditable 3rd. After losing their first game Kent fought hard all week. Game 3, July 2, 2009
Kent 8 Federal Way American 3
On another beautiful night for baseball at Auburn's Brannon Park, Kent Seniors took on Federal Way American with an opportunity to advance to the District 10 finals. Kent got an immediate jolt in the first inning from Tyler Hutto when he stroked a ball into right field for a triple. Kevin Clutter then drove him in on a single for the first RBI of the game. Federal way then looked like they were going to follow suit when Clark Colvin Jr. led off with a double to left field. But Kent's defense was able to prevent any runs from scoring in the first. Kent's offense was not able to score in the second. But starting pitcher Kevin Clutter struck out the side. Jesse Keliiliki crossed the plate in the third for Kent's second run by singling, stealing, and then getting driven in on a single by Austin Benson. But Federal Way American made it a new ball game when their catcher, Blake Koler, hit a bases clearing triple with two men on in the bottom of the third. Not to be deterred, Kent followed with back-to-back doubles from Kyle Mollenberg and D.J. Vallala. After Vallala's RBI, Kent managed to score two more runs on errors. Then in the bottom of the fourth, Federal Way's Alec Dennis led off with a single and later scored on an infield out for their only run of the inning. Despite a lead-off single from Austin Benson to start the fifth, Kent was not able to score but they were able to play defense… Jessie Keliiliki made a diving gem of a catch as he sprinted in from Center field toward second base to deny Federal Way's lead-off batter of a base hit. That set the tone for the rest of the game as Kent would not allow any more Federal Way runs for the rest of the game. After a scoreless sixth inning, Kent scored three runs in the seventh on three walks, a hit batter, and a couple of errors. Michael Parrot closed out the game and did not allow a single base runner in his three innings of work.
