State Championship Summaries

Game 1 Saturday July 25th

The Kent 12 year old all-stars lost a tough one today, falling to Bainbridge Island 8-5.

Kent got off to a quick start in the bottom of the first when Mike Ciancio singled sharply to center and Andrew Spring followed with a colossal 275 foot home run to right field.  In the third, after a Colin Cinkovich single and Ciancio double, Spring came up big again with a single to right scoring two more runs.  After a Kramer Sims Single, Spencer Greene hit a shot to right for Kent's fifth and final score.

In the meantime, Kade Kryzsko was baffling the Bainbridge hitters only two hits into the fifth. However, in the fifth, Bainbridge broke loose scoring four runs, benefiting from few seeing-eye hits. They added four more in the sixth to take the lead.  The Kent 12s did not go quietly, getting the first two men on to start the bottom of the sixth.  However, the rally fell short.

The Kent 12s resume the state tournament at 7:30 pm on Monday, July 27.

Game 2 Kent lost a heartbreaker last night to Salomon Creek 10-9 to be eliminated from this years tournament. A valiant effort from the Kent team saw them fall short in the bottom of the 6th with two outs. Winning the District 10 title is a tough task which the team accomplished but to get to regionals takes a little more luck and a good draw. The team played hard and we are all proud of them for what they have achieved, even if it fell short of their goals. Congratulations to all involved and for the effort and commitment this year.
